15/07/2025 – Safety Notice – Fairlight Secan Riders using Ortlieb QLS Fork Pack Mounting System
- Although we do not sell Ortlieb products. It has come to our attention that there is the potential to damage the Fairlight Secan Fork when fitting the Ortlieb QLS Fork Mounting System.
- If you are using, or have used, this system on your Fairlight Secan, please read this notice very carefully.
- Linked are the current installation instructions for the Ortlieb QLS Fork Pack Mounting System. Please use this link to review the installation instructions per the Ortlieb website.
- Referred to in the instructions. Fitment of the system on carbon forks requires the critical parts “G” and “H”.
- If parts “G” and “H” are not fitted, the fork rack system will sit against the body of the fork (rather than against the attachment bosses) and potentially affect the fork’s integrity.
- It is clear to us that a small number of our customers are not fitting the system while using parts “G” and “H”.
- If parts “G” and “H” are not fitted. Then the integrity and safety of the fork can be compromised.
- Because of this there is an increased risk of accidents that could lead lead to serious injury.
Fairlight Opinion on Ortlieb Fork Pack System:
- Unfortunately, it is now our view that the QLS system is a poor match to our carbon forks.
- Therefore, we DO NOT recommend using the QLS Fork Pack system with our carbon forks.
- This opinion does not extend to any other Ortlieb products.
What to do
If you have ever fitted the Ortlieb QLS Fork pack system – check the installation immediately.
If it has ever been fitted without parts “G” and “H” . Stop riding the forks and please contact us immediately.
If you have fitted the Ortlieb QLS Fork pack system with parts G and H being fitted.
The pack has been fitted in accordance with Ortlieb’s current guidance. We don’t know of any potential issues with this. But per our opinion above, we don’t feel that this pack system is a good match of our carbon forks.
If you have not fitted the Ortlieb QLS Fork pack system:
Please ignore this notice.
